Walk-Thru Market Returns

We’re excited to RE-OPEN as a walk-through market this Saturday morning! Some of your favorite vendors are rejoining the Market: Salatin’s Produce, Bethel Lane Farms, Argos Pet Food. And, we have two new vendors starting on Saturday: Coffee Emporium and Wendigo Tea.  To keep everyone safe, we will be taking the following measures:
     1. Vendors will be required to wear a face mask/shield.
     2. Vendors will sanitize/wash hands in between transactions.
     3. Customers will be required to wear a mask within the market.
     4. Customers will wash/sanitize hands upon entering the market.
     5. Customers will maintain social distance from others.
     6. There will be a limit on how many people are in the market at a time.

Many vendors will still be taking pre-orders to limit cash transactions, however you can still walk around and make purchases from vendors that are bringing extra goods for purchase.  So if you forget to purchase that pie for Saturday night dessert, you still can.

Here’s how it works.

When you get to Montgomery Elementary School, drive into the parking lot at the circle drive. Walkers and bike riders are welcome!

The Market vendors will be set up in a horseshoe shape, spread out over two rows in the parking lot. That’s so we can put more space between tents, as required by the State.

You will enter on the south end, near the orthodontist. All of the other access points from Montgomery Road and between tents will be closed off. That’s so we can control how many people are inside the Market space at one time to avoid bottlenecks. Again, that’s required by the State to ensure social distancing.

When you enter, we will give you a squirt of hand sanitizer. And, you will be required to wear a mask while you are at the Market, so please bring one. We wear masks to protect our customers and the vendors. We ask you to do the same.

If you forget yours, we will have masks at the entrance for a suggested donation of one dollar.

Once inside the Market, we ask you to keep plenty of space around you. If you have to wait at a vendor’s booth, there will be marks on the pavement to keep you 6-feet apart. We know people like to compare produce, so we have clustered the farms together at one end, to minimize backtracking against the flow of traffic.

At a vendor’s table, you will be able to see what’s for sale, but you won’t be able to touch the products. Please ask for what you want and the vendor will package it for you. In general, vendors will take credit cards, and some may handle cash, but some may not. It’s up to them.

Also, most vendors will continue to accept pre-orders on their websites, for pickup at their booths. In fact, some PREFER pre-orders. Please check their websites to find out more about pre-ordering. You can do that at montgomeryfarmersmarket.org

For anyone who is “at risk,” we recommend preordering and coming between 12 and 12:30pm to pickup your order.

Snap & Produce Perks

Due to COVID-19, we are postponing our farmers bucks and kicks bucks (“3 peas game”) programs. We look forward to offering these again in the future. In the meantime, we WILL continue to accept SNAP/EBT and Produce Perks.

Are you interested in volunteering at the market?  We can always use a few more sets of hands to help out on Saturdays.  Send an email to montfarmersmkt@gmail.com and we’ll get in touch to see how you can be a part of making the Montgomery Farmers Market a success!

We can’t wait to see you at the market!
